What are batteries?
Batteries are items that store energy for future use.  Most frequently used in business, autos, RV's, boats, households, and industry.  Batteries include:

How do I recycle batteries?
Some batteries are easy to recycle.   For those that are recyclable, simply keep them dry.

Where do I recycle my batteries?
Batteries are accepted all over the community of Douglas County.  Do not leave this material at thrift stores.  It costs them labor and time to get rid of.

  • RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
    Rechargeable household batteries can be taken to:
    • Going Green Recycling
      Located in the South Gate Shopping Center in Roseburg
    • Any RADIO SHACK, LOWES, or SEARS
  • ALKALINE BATTERIES
    Accepted (for free) at

  • LEAD ACID BATTERIES
    All lead acid batteries are accepted free of charge at
    Going Green Recycling and at ALL Douglas County Transfer Stations except Slide Creek
